Great America in Cedar Rapids has hired Josh Becker, Ashley Doser, Maddy Lewis and Sean Salemink as service desk-triage specialists; JasonJones, program manager; Tina Ebnet, executive account; Elijah Cox, trainee at the service center; Haley Batcheller, Talent acquisition specialist; Dustin Abner and Pierre McNamara, account support advisors; and Karen Vasque, QA software tester.

Karl Cassell has joined Iowa Plumbing and Heating Wholesale as Division Vice President.

United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties named Mary Westbrook as interim President and CEO.

Morgan Finnegan was promoted to Director of Youth and Education, Hills Bank Officer in his Hills office.

Acquisitions and expansions

Shive-Hattery acquired WSM Architects, a 13-person architectural firm in Tucson, Arizona. The acquisition extends Shive-Hattery’s reach to the Southwest and expands its design capabilities in the corporate, government, education and healthcare labor markets.

OPN Architects opened an office in Minneapolis with three architects. This is the Cedar Rapids-based design firm‘s fifth office.

Eye care company My Eyelab, a Palm Springs, Fla.-based retail brand of Now Optics, will open a franchise office in Cedar Rapids in October with up to six employees.

Monthly in-person networking and information breakfasts sponsored by SCORE are held at Scott’s Family Restaurant in Cedar Rapids. Small business owners and those looking for options are invited to attend at 7:30 am on the fourth Thursday of each month through October. The next event will take place on April 28.
