Most Popular Luxury Hotels & Private Accommodation in Opatija This Summer
Aug 22, 2021 – Luxury hotels and private accommodation in Opatija are in high demand this summer, reveals Tourism Board Director Suzi Petričić.
On Friday, Opatija surpassed the total number of overnight stays in 2020. From January 1 to August 20, a total of 494,605 overnight stays were achieved citywide, an increase of 35% compared to the same period last year . Looking at Opatija’s record tourist year, the city reached 60% of 2019, HRTurizam reports.
In August, Opatija recorded 139,572 overnight stays, an increase of 34% compared to the first 20 days of the same month last year. 94% of overnight stays were made by foreign nationals, mainly German, Austrian and Hungarian. In particular, the Germans made 46,000 overnight stays, i.e. 46% more than in 2020, the Austrians 20,600 overnight stays with a growth of 99% compared to last year, while the Hungarians achieved 10,500 overnight stays with a growth of 32%. The national hosts occupy the fourth place in terms of representation, and they achieved 8,600 overnight stays.
Half of all overnight stays were spent in hotels, which registered an increase of 47%. Private accommodation is responsible for 46 percent of overnight stays in August, while the remaining 4 percent is non-commercial accommodation.
“The result that Opatija has achieved so far this season exceeds expectations, especially if the playoffs are in line with the announcements that currently exist, which will largely depend on the epidemiological situation of the destination, but also on the main tourist markets. that this year is difficult and uncertain, Opatija has prepared well and is ready to welcome its guests both in terms of tourism and safety ”, said the director of the Opatija Tourist Board, Suzi Petričić.
Luxury hotels and private accommodation in Opatija are in high demand this season, so in August you cannot find a free villa with pool or hotel room, adds Petričić and points out that she is happy that the September facilities in this category are sold out in advance.
“Investing in improving the quality of service has certainly proven to be justified both in hotels and in private accommodation”, emphasizes Petričić.
As a reason for a good season, Petričić underlines the quality of communication throughout the year, the generation of new tourist content and products and the positioning of Opatija as an attractive, interesting but – above all – safe destination.
“Opatija is therefore recognized as one of the key destinations of the Adriatic, which can offer its customers not only beaches and sea, but also a long tradition of health tourism, wellness and spa centers quality, excellent gastronomy, a wide range of facilities for active holidays and nature stays and many events organized following epidemiological measures. In addition, in cooperation with many entities in the tourism sector, we have created new tourism products and experiences adapted to the epidemiological situation and new customer habits. We are happy that customers have recognized this and reacted positively to the fact that Opatija really offers them everything they need for a perfect vacation, ”concludes Petričić.
