A new business park east of Dallas will add to the region’s growing industrial base.
Leon Capital Group plans to build its Long Creek Industrial Park on Long Creek Road in Mesquite, near US Highway 80.
The 3-building project will contain over 636,000 square feet of space.
Construction is expected to begin on the more than $18 million project later this year, according to planning documents filed with the state.
Dallas Ware architect Malcomb designed the project.
Leon Capital Group has been in business for over 13 years and has built apartment and industrial projects.
Last year, the commercial real estate company purchased a warehouse in Grand Prairie.
“Leon Capital Group is also actively seeking land sites in high-growth markets across the United States for Class A industrial development,” according to the company’s website.
In Dallas, the company is best known for the redevelopment of the former Dallas Independent School District headquarters just east of downtown. The developer has kept part of the old offices and built more than 300 apartments along Ross Avenue.
Communities just east of Dallas — including Mesquite and Forney — are seeing a boom in industrial construction as developers roll out to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in search of new warehouse sites.
Over 6 million square feet of industrial space is being built in East Dallas County with more on the way.
