General description:

Reporting to the Director, Privacy, ex-APAC, the Senior Director, Privacy, ex-APAC will support the design and implementation of BeiGene’s global privacy program with a primary focus on the company’s operations in the United States (US). States), in Europe and in new markets. Specifically, the Senior Director, Privacy, ex-APAC will assist the Privacy Office in the development, deployment and oversight of the company’s privacy policies, procedures, training programs and technology solutions. Additionally, this role will work with other members of BeiGene’s Legal and Compliance and IT teams on issues related to privacy and data security, including data incident responses and solution design and development. scalable technology tools to support BeiGene’s continued growth with its operations in the United States, Europe and new markets and regions. The position will be based in the BeiGene office in Switzerland (Basel).


  • Assist the Privacy Office in designing and implementing a consistent global privacy policy architecture to facilitate consistent adoption and implementation of privacy compliance principles and controls at national, regional, state and local.
  • Support BeiGene’s Privacy Office with the creation and maintenance of dashboards, reports and presentations for various company audiences including Global Privacy Steering Committee, Compliance Committee, Executive Committee , country management teams and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist in the identification, collection, management and reporting of privacy measures necessary to escalate and mitigate privacy risks in BeiGene across commercial, medical, clinical development, G&A and other groups .
  • Develop and deploy guidance, workbooks, templates and forms for the purpose of integrating privacy controls into BeiGene’s operations.
  • Foster regular engagements with privacy champions and incorporate feedback and observations into existing or new policies and procedures.
  • Support BeiGene businesses and operations with Data Protection Impact Assessments, Privacy Impact Assessments and Transfer Impact Assessments, as well as mitigation of identified risks.
  • Manage and maintain central privacy mailboxes that receive privacy-related queries and project support requests.
  • Oversee the deployment and subsequent management of privacy processes on OneTrust, including data subject rights and privacy impact assessments.
  • Assist in triage, escalation, management and response to data privacy incidents.
  • Develop and maintain platform communications such as privacy newsletters and privacy portions of Legal and Compliance and Privacy team intranet pages.
  • Support the development and periodic review of privacy training programs for new and existing employees to ensure a thorough understanding and appreciation of privacy laws that impact the company operations and how to conduct business practices appropriately.
  • Assist procurement, finance, IT and other functions in managing third-party risk, including vendor due diligence, vendor training, and distributor audits.

Education required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably life sciences, law, computer science, data analytics or related discipline).
  • Holds a data protection and/or privacy certification (CIPP, CIPT or CIPM from the IAPP).

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of full-time work experience in confidentiality, preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry and/or in a nationally recognized law firm or consulting firm.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of privacy and data protection laws (e.g. GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Experience and expertise in project management.
  • Experience and expertise in privacy technology tools (e.g. OneTrust).
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships/connections across the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with enthusiasm and responsibility.

  • PC computer skills including MS Office suite.
