Join one of the top 10 global design firms in our civic/public buildings and transit practice that provides architectural, building engineering, urban planning and interior design services with a long history and a deep commitment to customers that include transit agencies, utility providers, local and federal government.

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Integrated Buildings practice. This position will contribute to Stantec’s success by planning, executing and managing medium to large sized projects using good judgment, strong interpersonal skills and effective tools and techniques. Our projects typically require business and technology orientation and often provide new or improved facilities to customers and communities. As a lead contributor to our professional Buildings/AE team, you will work independently to support clients throughout the start of a project. Your experience ensures that you are able to manage clients, contracts, technical team, project funding, schedules and support project continuation efforts, led by constituents. You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, develop and manage integrated work plans, manage project finances and coordinate with clients while leading and coaching others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables.

Your main responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing complex tasks on medium to large projects.

  • Responsible for the delivery of quality documents.

  • Plan, organize and direct work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.

  • Keep the main manager informed of the progress of project expectations, potential problems, deadlines and deliverables; Understand the levels of decision-making responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager role.

  • Maintain the customer relationship.

  • Lead the client and the project team to ensure the project design meets the client’s budget, schedule, program and design intent.

  • Assist the Principal-in-Charge in the negotiation and development of project agreements.

  • Develop and manage the overall project budget, schedule and work plan to achieve target financial performance.

  • Oversee the development of building documentation in modeling software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD)

  • Mentor assistant project managers and motivate project teams.

  • Ensure project management framework tasks are completed in a timely manner and properly documented.

  • Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.

  • Manage and track change orders, payment requests by contractors and other contract changes impacting budget and schedule.

  • Work with the Operations Manager to determine project staffing needs and recommend staff.

  • Directs customer billing and effectively manages collections.

Qualifications

Your skills and references

  • Knowledge of managing all phases of AE projects, including project delivery methods.

  • Able to execute and deliver small, medium and large scale projects.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to simultaneously support one or more Senior Managers on multiple projects.

  • Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.

  • Teamwork with the client, the entire project team and the contractor.

  • Effective negotiator and communicator.

  • Skills to facilitate internal and external project team meetings, monitor, track and control results to resolve issues, conflicts and prioritization.

  • Adaptive and strategic.

  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects; Prefer experience with Revit.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor of Architecture.

  • Must be a licensed architect in California.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the architectural engineering industry, including a minimum of 7 years of experience as a project manager in architectural engineering firms.

  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP is a plus.

Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements, including weather.
